Mount Sion is a name that has become synonymous with Waterford and with Edmund Rice. It is the site of Blessed Edmund Rice's first school and is his final resting place.
The name has spread throughout the world as institutions have taken the name in honour of the name of Edmund's first foundation.
Four entities share the Mount Sion name and a tradition that dates back to its foundation in 1802 by Edmund Rice: Edmund Rice International Heritage Centre, Mount Sion; Mount Sion Primary; Mount Sion Secondary, all still on the original site in Barrack Street, Waterford, and Mount Sion GAA Club.
